This gesture by Dr. Papa Benin comes in recognition of the team’s outstanding performance at the 2025 NSMQ Grand Finale, where AUGUSCO placed second with 42 points, narrowly missing the ultimate prize. Despite the result, Dr. Papa Benin described the students as “victors in spirit,” commending their intelligence, discipline, composure, and teamwork throughout the competition.
Speaking to the media, Dr. Papa Benin reaffirmed his unwavering pride in the students who represented their school with courage and excellence on the national stage.
“For the second time in the final, AUGUSCO has proven to be a force to reckon with. Our boys fought hard, and as Apsunians, we remain proud of them. They must persevere, build meaningful friendships, and always leave a mark wherever they go,” he stated.
The items were officially received at the APSU Secretariat on Monday at 10 a.m. by APSU Secretary Eric Atta-Sonno (APSU ’90), on behalf of the school and the quiz team. He expressed deep appreciation to Dr. Papa Benin, describing the donation as unprecedented — the first time an individual has donated four top-quality laptops and cash support to AUGUSCO NSMQ contestants and their coordinators.
Mfantsipim School successfully defended their NSMQ crown with 56 points, while Opoku Ware School placed third with 29 points. However, in the eyes of many, Dr. Papa Benin’s reward to AUGUSCO highlights a deeper victory — the triumph of mentorship, loyalty, and the enduring Apsunian spirit of excellence.
Through this powerful act, Dr. Papa Benin has not only rewarded performance but reignited hope, motivation, and belief in the next generation of Ghanaian intellectuals.
